Introducing Boone Chiropractor Dr. Meleah Mauldin

“I’ve always had a desire to provide a service to help others better their lives,” recalls Dr. Mauldin. “I didn’t realize that chiropractic was the way in which I was going to do this until I met Dr. Philip Van Campen, who explained to me what chiropractic really is. He shared a quote by Thomas Edison with me which states ‘The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human body, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.’ I knew at that moment that I was going to become a chiropractor.”
Chiropractic offers “health” care as opposed to “disease” care. Think of it this way, are headaches caused by a worldwide lack of medicine? NO! Medicine will take care of symptoms, but does nothing to combat the cause of problems. Chiropractic treats the patient rather than the condition, allowing each individual to better deal with what is going on within them.
Dr. Mauldin was born in Boone, NC and grew up in Salisbury, NC. From there she went to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she received her B.A. in Parks and Recreation. She was then accepted to Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO. During her four years at Logan, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, neurology, orthopedics, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Logan College Clinic System. Dr. Mauldin received her B.S. in Human Biology in 2003 and her Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2005, both from Logan College. After graduation, Dr. Mauldin returned to her home state of North Carolina to open her chiropractic practice. “I’m thrilled to be back in North Carolina, in this town that I love so much.”
Dr. Mauldin has concentrated her post graduate training in functional medicine including endocrinology, brain and neurotransmitter function and blood chemistry analysis. “When we look at health through the functional model, we are able to predict and prevent disease long before its onset. We view the signs and symptoms of dysfunction not as inconveniences that should be covered up, but as clues that need to be investigated,” states Dr. Mauldin.
